Light 1- Outside

I liked the way the light hit the front of this home as the sun started to go down. This picture was taken about 5pm. You can see the blue in the sky starting to fade to a lighter color. I thought it was a nice shot to show the sun lighting the house from the front.

In photo shop I made a few adjustments to the brightness and the levels. I then added a bit of vibrancy. Finally I flattened the image and resized it to 1024 pixels.

Light 2: Inside

I wanted to capture something inside that would be vibrant so I chose these flowers. I used the dark wood table as the background to give contrast but still blend well with the colors in the flowers. I took the photo close up and from the top.

Photoshop was the next step. There wasn’t too much that needed changing but I did adjust the vibrancy a bit and the levels. I then flattened the image and resized it to 1024 pixels. This one was the least troublesome of the six to adjust.

Focus: Foreground

In this shot I wanted to capture the beauty of the tree and steeple up closer fade the look of the snowy mountains in the background. I found this very difficult to do with the camera that I have. It does show a sharper image of the tree and steeple and you see a hint of the mountain with the sunset showing a hit of pink on the tops of them .

I used photoshop to fix the levels and also to add a little more sharpness to the tree. I also adjusted the brightness and saturation.  Finally I again flattened the image and resized it to 1024 pixels.

Focus: Background

In this photo I tried to capture the beautiful color of pink hitting the snowy mountain tops. I tried to adjust the metering mode in the camera but it was very difficult to do on my camera. I used a sony  cybershot camera for these photos. It didn’t blur the images in front as well as I would have liked but it did adjust the lighting a bit and showed the mountain more clearly.

In Photoshop I didn’t have to adjust too much. I liked the coloring and sharpness that already existed in this photo but I did adjust the vibrancy and levels. Finally I flattened the image and resized it to 1024 pixels.

Composition 1: Thirds

I took this photo at the end of my cruise at the beginning of this week. I thought It was a great depiction of the rule of thirds. The boats are showing off to the right third of the photo and the doc is off to the left third. Also from top to bottom the photo breaks up nicely into thirds.

In photoshop I adjusted the contrast as well as the vibrancy and brightness. I also adjusted the levels. I followed up by flattening the image and resized it to 1024 pixels.

Composition 2: Lead Room

This picture dipicts the composition Lead room.  It follows the rule of thirds as it is off center and my son who is the subject is standing toward the frame. It is a bit faded looking because the picture was taken inside against a neutral color wall.

I made quite a few adjustments in photoshop to adjust the color. I used the sharpen tool on the hat an on Porter’s eyes. I adjusted the levels and vibrancy. I then flattened the image and resized it at 1024 pixels.
